Ron Howard Retrospective
July 7–Sep. 7, 2026
No one has ever had a career like Ron Howard. He began as a child actor, progressed to being a teenage film and TV heartthrob, then proceeded to become a successful and award-winning filmmaker whose work has spanned nearly 50 years, tackling dramas, comedies, romances, historical epics, family films, and documentaries. In honor of his singular body and character of work, and in recognition of his longtime support during the Burns’ 25th anniversary celebrations, we’re presenting the most comprehensive retrospective of his work ever mounted. Capable of mastering the small and big screens, independent and franchise films, Howard has long had a reputation for being a consummate professional, a beloved collaborator, and dedicated mentor for emerging talent. The series begins with his headlining performances and first forays into directing in the 1970s, then continues with his breakout hits Splash, Cocoon, and Parenthood, before continuing with Hollywood blockbusters Willow, Far and Away and Backdraft, and on into Academy award-winners Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind and beyond. Ron Howard will be present for select screenings.
Presented alongside this Retrospective is the Ron Howard Poster Exhibition in the Jane Peck Gallery, on display through the end of July.
