Marilyn Monroe at 100

Aug. 25–Sep. 24, 2026

One of the most iconic figures in Hollywood history, the iconography and mythos of Marilyn Monroe have often obscured the immense craft and artistry of the actor herself. From comedies like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Seven Year Itch, and Some Like it Hot, to dramatic turns in films like Niagara and The Misfits, Monroe was a performer as dynamic as she was versatile; an undeniable talent who, despite her tragic death at age 36, left behind a truly formidable body of work.

In honor of Marilyn Monroe’s centennial, the Jacob Burns Film Center will present screenings of five of her finest performances, which will be complemented by Cinema Studies classes in collaboration with the Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
