In this comedic masterwork from director Billy Wilder (The Seven Year Itch), two down on their luck jazz musicians (Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis) find themselves out of a job and on the run after the pair inadvertently stumble upon a mob hit. With no money and nowhere to hide, a gig with Sweet Sue and her Society Syncopators, an all-women band who perform at a Florida beach resort, seems like the perfect getaway.
Armed with some dodgy wigs and wobbly falsettos, Joe and Jerry manage to join the Syncopators, where they meet the beautiful Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe): the band’s ukulele-playing singer. Barely able to believe their good fortune, things start to go off the rails for the pair when they begin to attract unwanted attention from lecherous millionaires—and a gathering of the country’s most dangerous criminals leads some familiar faces to show up at their hotel.
