Game of Tweets

This is a post by JBFC Marketing Intern, Stacy Zakalik

The three part web series, called Supreme Tweeter, directed by former Jacob Burn Film Center staff member Todd Sandler, is a joy to watch.

A very meta look into the actor Harry Lloyd’s life, this web series brings both acting and social media to new life. Harry Lloyd, a recently unemployed actor, has not been on the HBO show Game of Thrones for years since he was killed off in season one. In this web series, he begins to find new life in social media when he makes himself a Twitter and gets followed by the most Supreme Tweeter.

The first episode, titled #WakingTheDragon, begins with Harry Lloyd trying out for the part of Henry V at a casting call. He soon learns that he didn’t get the part and it, instead, went to Seth Rogen. Henry V was Lloyd’s dream role, and feeling sad and dejected, he decides to make a Twitter instead. He gets a surprise when he is followed by the most Supreme Tweeter.

In the second episode, titled #FollowTheLeader, Lloyd finally gets some fame and notoriety because of the Supreme Tweeter following him. It causes a stir in the social media world that gets a lot of people talking. Lloyd finally also gets scripts and interviews, and seems to be living the dream. This all comes crashing down when the Supreme Tweeter unfollows him, causing him to lose followers and fame.

In the third and final episode, titled #TheRedScare, Harry Lloyd is now lonely and crestfallen. People just don’t care about him anymore, and his “fifteen minutes of fame” are up. The episode ends with a surprise that will have fans reeling in laughter, as Lloyd finally gets back his career.

This web series is very imaginative and funny, and everything is connected in a very meta way. Game of Thrones fans, Harry Lloyd fans, and Seth Rogen fans will all be happy by how this web series twists and turns the characters and plot. I would highly recommend it to any of these fans.

As one character says in the third episode, “All the world’s a stage!” This web series takes this idea and runs with it.
