Retro Revival Presents: Melville at 100

Mar. 1–23, 2018

Last October marked the 100th birthday of one of the greatest, most stylish filmmakers to ever work in cinema: Jean-Pierre Melville (1917–73). Directing a modest number of impossibly cool films—the world was robbed of his talent when he was only 55—Melville produced a nearly flawless body of work. Don’t miss this series, which includes Army of Shadows, Le Samouraï, and the gorgeous new 4K restoration of Bob le Flambeur, which critic J. Hoberman called “the cinematic birth of the cool.”

Programmed by Senior Film Programmer Andrew Jupin

Melville: An Introduction takes place in advance of the series, on Feb. 19. When you attend this special Members-Only event you’ll also receive a complimentary ticket to any film in the series.
