Coming Soon: New Cinema Studies Course on Alfred Hitchcock in Collaboration with NYU Tisch

Pleasantville, NY – September 22, 2023 – The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) is thrilled to further its collaboration with New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts this fall through the launch of a new Cinema Studies course, Beyond Suspicion: Alfred Hitchcock. Led by a rotating roster of distinguished NYU faculty and PhD candidates, and designed for adult creatives looking to further their education, this new course will delve into various aspects of cinema, providing participants with a deeper understanding of the art form.

Over the course of four weekend sessions this fall, participants will explore the work, techniques, and legacy of renowned auteur Alfred Hitchcock through film screenings paired with in-depth discussions guided by NYU Tisch educators. Kicking off this October—perfectly timed for the master of suspense—the course will meet at the JBFC Theater on four Sundays (Oct. 29, Nov. 5, Nov. 12 & Nov. 19) at 11:00 am. Films and faculty for the first two class meetings have been confirmed, with NYU Tisch School of the Arts Professor Dr. Sheril Antonio hosting The Lady Vanishes on Oct. 29, and NYU Tisch School of the Arts Professor Dr. Anna McCarthy covering Notorious on Nov. 5. Details for the remaining sessions will be added as they are confirmed.
