OSCILLOSCOPE @ 10

Aug. 27–30, 2018

For the last 10 years, the film world has been gifted with Oscilloscope Laboratories—just Oscilloscope, or O-Scope, to their friends. Since their creation in 2008—the company was founded by David Fenkel (who also went on to co-found A24 Films) and the late, great Adam Yauch (of Beastie Boys fame)—the distribution arm has released (or re-released) well over 100 films, a massive undertaking and major accomplishment. Oscilloscope has supported a huge number of documentaries, music films, foreign efforts, and films directed by women, including: Josephine Decker, Sophia Takal, Anna Biller, Anna Rose Holmer, Kelly Reichardt, Andrea Arnold, Lynne Ramsay, and Alice Rohrwacher. Dozens of the company’s films have screened here at the JBFC over the last decade and for these four nights in late August, we’re celebrating 10 years of Oscilloscope by taking a look back at a (tiny) selection of the company’s daring, unconventional, and impressive output.
