Happy Thanksgiving!

By Karolina Manko, Communications Manager

If you’ve ever heard the story of Cinderella or Rapunzel then you’ve heard a story by the Brothers Grimm. In fact, many of the most beloved folktales that have permeated through our culture come from the story-collections of the Brothers Grimm. Who were they? Two 19th century German brothers who travelled extensively and collected the oral tales of different regions. In short, they were lovers of stories. (Which means that they would have also loved the JBFC, where Story is at the heart of everything we do!)

Take a listen to this, lesser-known, Brothers Grimm tale called The Six Friends. Master storyteller and JBFC Adjunct Faculty member, Bill Gordh recounts for us this epic quest tale, used in our Seeing Stories curriculum for students in Pre-K through 2nd Grade. It’s one of our favorite stories about the invaluable nature of deep friendship.

This Thanksgiving holiday, we hope you, too, find yourself in excellent company.
