Where Life Begins

Every summer an ultra-Orthodox French family pays a brief visit to a farm in Calabria to carry out a sacred mission: harvesting citrons. They stay on the estate of a kind Catholic man named Elio, whose wife left him some years back. He and Esther, the Jewish family’s 26-year-old daughter, both feeling lost in their lives, form a profound bond and come away with new directions. A beautiful, lyrical rhapsody to honest emotion and human connection.

This film is part of the Jewish Film Festival 2022 series.
