“A brilliant new documentary that shows dance as soft power supporting people that political and social failures have hurt.” (Psychology Today)
Moving Stories follows six members of New York’s Battery Dance Company as they crisscross the world to work with youth who’ve experienced war, poverty, exploitation, and other trauma. In India, they encounter girls who’ve been victims of sex trafficking and gender violence; in Romania, they teach Roma kids from one of Europe’s worst slums; in South Korea, they engage young North Koreans who risked their lives to escape; and in Iraq, they help a gifted young Muslim performer who risks his life to dance publicly. In just one week, the students create and then perform a piece for their communities. They respond in extraordinary ways, unlocking stories in wellsprings of emotion and creativity.
