Join us for our third annual celebration of jazz hosted by John Pizzarelli. Pizzarelli will perform after a screening of Bruce Weber’s seminal jazz documentary about Chet Baker: Let’s Get Lost.
Traveling with the elusive jazz vocalist and trumpeter Chet Baker, Bruce Weber weaves together the life story of a jazz great. The film uses excerpts from Italian B movies, rare performance footage, and candid interviews with Baker, musicians, friends, battling ex-wives, and his children—in what turned out to be the last year of his life. Winner of the 1989 Critics Prize at the Venice Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award, Let’s Get Lost has become an important documentation of the life of a jazz legend. Since its release in 1989, Let’s Get Lost has introduced a whole new generation of jazz enthusiasts to the timeless talent of the late Chet Baker.
Restored by Cineric, New York City from a 16mm reversal original of the film, supervised by Bruce Weber.

This program is presented in memory of Maria Traversa, longtime Jazz Sessions Series Curator and cherished friend of the JBFC.
Through her work on our jazz series, Maria taught us how jazz music allows us to tap into a multitude of emotions, the depths of our being, and beyond. In step with the music’s originality of style and spirit, Maria was one of a kind, and we are deeply honored to present this special jazz program in her memory.
