Inside Llewyn Davis

Inspired by the life and work of folk singer Dave Van Ronk, Inside Llewyn Davis follows a week in the life of Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac), a gifted yet volatile folk singer, as he struggles with money, relationships, and his uncertain future amidst the New York City folk scene of the early 1960s. With memorable supporting turns from Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, F. Murray Abraham, and Adam Driver, along with a starmaking turn from Oscar Isaac, Inside Llewyn Davis is a contemporary masterpiece from Academy Award winners Ethan and Joel Coen (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men).

"Brilliantly written, terrifically acted, superbly designed and shot; it's a sweet, sad, funny picture about the lost world of folk music which effortlessly immerses us in the period."
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
"This is not a biopic, it’s a Coen brothers movie, which is to say a brilliant magpie’s nest of surrealism, period detail and pop-culture scholarship. To put it another way, it’s a folk tale."
A.O. Scott, The New York Times

This film is part of the Sounds of Summer series.
