Autonomies (Program 1)

A hit Israeli TV show not to be missed! Autonomies is a dystopian drama set in an alternate version of present-day Israel, a nation divided by a wall into the secular State of Israel with Tel Aviv as its capital, and the Haredi Autonomy in Jerusalem, controlled by an ultra-Orthodox religious group. The all-star cast circles around Broide (Assi Cohen, Prisoners of War), an ultra-Orthodox wheeler-dealer living in the Autonomy who makes his living smuggling contraband between the two regions. When the nature of the goods he traffics moves to another level, a legal saga ensues that threatens to tear a fragile country to pieces. Autonomies is a dramatically gripping, unnerving saga, deeply watchable and provocative at the same time.
