Once the star of the Warsaw prosecutors’ office, Teodor Szacki (Polish Academy Award–winning actor Robert Wieckiewicz) abruptly ends his celebrated career and complicated marriage to start a new life in a sleepy town in the south of the country. Almost immediately, his plans are disrupted when he’s asked to investigate the brutal murder of a well-known social activist whose body is discovered outside a local synagogue. Szacki soon finds himself unraveling a string of ritual killings possibly rooted in Poland’s anti-Semitic past that seem to have a mysterious connection with historical myths of blood libel. Borys Lankosz’s masterfully constructed, dark thriller, A Grain of Truth is based on the lauded novel of the same name by Zygmunt Miloszewski.
