Cinema Studies: Billy Wilder

Feb. 6–20, 2025

As one of the most incisive filmmakers of his time – and perhaps in all of Hollywood history, director Billy Wilder left an indelible legacy of sharp movies that cut to the core of American culture, touched on unspoken social taboos of the day, and displayed a stunning versatility as his work spanned genres from film noir to romantic comedies. Many of Wilder’s most iconic films never seem to leave movie theater screens, including ours. Join us and educators from NYU Tisch School of the Arts for a series of film screenings paired with in-depth discussions for a close up on Billy Wilder.
