Remembering Art Samberg

We at the Burns mourn the passing of one of our founding leaders, Art Samberg. It is impossible to describe the enormous impact Art Samberg had on the birth, life, and the future of the Jacob Burns Film Center. Art served as our first Board Chair from 2004-2009. Under Art’s leadership, we accomplished major milestones, including the completion of the Campaign for 21^st Century Education and the opening of the Media Arts Lab.

Art led the Burns with grace, humor, and profound wisdom. He was joyfully passionate about our film and education programs and the Burns was a second home to Art and his beloved wife, Becky. Art’s generosity and enthusiasm for our mission was contagious. His eager involvement in the Burns inspired countless people to follow his lead in helping to make so much possible. Larger than life and one of a kind, Art Samberg will be deeply missed by the JBFC staff, board, and community. We are just one of many institutions who mourn the passing of this remarkable human being.
