Quest: An Intimate and Moving Tale of Love, Family & Hope!

By JBFC Marketing Volunteer Dotty Battel

For nearly a decade, filmmaker Jonathan Olshefsi followed the lives of the Raineys, a black “working–poor” family living in North Philly. He was given unfettered access to the family, or as he put it “I became like furniture”.

The doc begins with the Obama family’s arrival at the White House and ends shortly after Trump’s election. The racial, social and political turmoil of the period provide the backdrop, but the heart and soul of the film belongs to Christopher “Quest” Rainey, his wife “Ma Quest,” and their community. “Quest is a quietly observed, powerful film that demands attention.” (The London Economic) Watch this video interview of Olshefski and producer Sabrina Schmidt Gordon (who will be part of a Q&A following the film) discussing the making of it:
