JBFC Kids Age Recommendations

If you’re bringing your family to JBFC Kids you may be wondering how we decide on an age recommendation, or whether you can bring your child to a JBFC Kids film if they are younger than the suggested age.

You know your child better than we do. We’re happy to welcome children under the recommended age to JBFC Kids screenings. These are guidelines to help you decide whether a film is suitable for your child, but your judgment is what matters most.

Here is further information about our age recommendations from Faculty/JBFC Kids Curator, Emily Ohara:

All film programs have accompanied age recommendations. These rating suggestions are based on the film’s content advisory and our experience as children’s film programmers. As the parent, you have the best understanding of what is suitable for your child. We encourage you to select the film that best fits the maturity of your child and to accompany them to every screening.
