ABOUT DIRECTOR’S CUT

At the Jacob Burns Film Center, we’re dedicated to guiding students toward careers in the arts by providing the tools, expertise, and opportunities to pursue their creative ambitions. This commitment is at the heart of our innovative Director’s Cut fellowships.

In collaboration with NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Imagine Entertainment, Director’s Cut offers unmatched opportunities for motivated 10th and 11th grade students to enhance their filmmaking skills and nurture their artistic passions. Through over 50 hours of college-level coursework, students will cultivate the skills and knowledge essential to make an impact as creators in today’s visually driven culture.

These competitive programs provide comprehensive pre-professional experiences free of charge, complemented by generous stipends to cover transportation costs and offset lost wages. To date, we’ve launched two Director’s Cut Programs – Emerging Screenwriters and Narrative Filmmaking, to huge success, and plan to expand with new elements including Documentary Filmmaking in partnership with Imagine Entertainment.
