A Killer Night: Recapping Our Sold-Out Murder Mystery Dinner Party

On Tuesday, November 19, the Jane Peck Gallery at the Jacob Burns Film Center transformed into a scene of intrigue and suspense as we hosted a sold-out Murder Mystery Dinner Party. This Who Dun It Dinner Party was the grand finale to our Noirvember: Film Noir From Yesterday to Today series and proved to be an unforgettable evening of thrills, laughter, and generosity.

From the moment guests stepped into the gallery, the atmosphere was electric. Period attire was on full display, with glamorous noir-inspired costumes adding to the immersive experience. The Acme Mystery Company led the charge, masterfully weaving a tale of suspense that kept everyone guessing. The evening began with cocktails at 6:00 PM, generously donated by Best Wine Purveyors, Neversink Spirits, and Captain Lawrence Brewing Company. Act 1 followed shortly thereafter, as attendees were transformed into amateur sleuths, piecing together clues and interrogating suspects. Guests were transported back to 1961 at Club Polka, tasked with solving the case of the notorious Pierogi Killer.

Guests enjoyed a break for a delicious dinner provided by Dig Inn, accompanied by a lively pop quiz that added an extra layer of fun and competition. The suspenseful journey continued with Acts 2 and 3, culminating in an unforgettable finale, where the killer was finally revealed in a twist no one saw coming! At the end, prizes were awarded for Best Costume, Best Guess, and even Worst Guess. The prizes included both JBFC swag bags, as well as coupons from the Acme Murder Mystery Company for future dinners.

This event wasn’t just about fun and mystery—it was also about giving back. All proceeds from the night supported JBFC’s film and education programs, making the event a win-win for attendees and our community.
