In Nicholas Ray’s stunning debut “Bowie” Bowers (Farley Granger) breaks out of prison after having been framed for murder as a teen. While hiding out, Bowie meets Keechie (Cathy O’Donnell), and the pair quickly fall in love. Wanting to clear his name, Bowie decides to participate in a robbery so he can afford a lawyer. As he gets drawn further into a life of crime, and the two lovers go on the run from the law, Bowie contemplates settling down with Keechie and starting over.
