The Power of the Dog

Nominated for twelve Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay

Director Jane Campion (The Piano) returns with her first feature film since 2009 to tell the story of a domineering but charismatic rancher (Benedict Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game, Sherlock) who wages a war of intimidation on his brother’s (Jesse Plemons, The Irishman) new wife (Kirsten Dunst, Marie Antionette) and her teen son—until long-hidden secrets come to light. Adapted from the 1967 novel by Thomas Savage, this poetic western sets “the roiling emotions of her characters against the striking landscapes (David Sims, The Atlantic).”

"Powerfully unexpected"
Kate Taylor, Globe and Mail
"Cumberbatch wrangles an earth-shattering performance, perhaps his best ever"
Carlos Aguilar, TheWrap
"A beautifully crafted movie"
Glenn Kenny, RogerEbert.com
