Bauer, himself Jewish, has been trying to take Nazi war criminals to court, largely unsuccessfully, since Germany still refuses to fully acknowledge that war crimes occurred. To avoid letting Eichmann slip through his fingers, he enlists the help of the Israeli Secret Service, a decision that could see him imprisoned for treason.
