The Odyssey (on 35mm)

Opens July 17—Q&A and book talk with translator Emily Wilson on August 2

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is an epic adaptation of Homer’s foundational saga, charting the perilous journey of Odysseus (Matt Damon), mighty warrior and king of Ithaca, as he attempts to return home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) following the conclusion of the Trojan War. Also starring Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Benny Safdie, and Charlize Theron.

The following screenings of The Odyssey will be presented digitally (DCP):

  • Sunday, 7/19 at 11:05AM
  • Monday, 7/20 at 3:45PM and 7:20PM
  • Wednesday, 7/21 at 12:45PM

The August 2 screening at 3:00pm will feature a Q&A with writer and professor Emily Wilson, one of the most acclaimed classical translators in the literary world. Her translation of The Odyssey served as direct inspiration in the creation of Chrisopher Nolan’s film. Copies of The Odyssey will be on sale after the screening courtesy of the Village Bookstore.

Please note that, due to the necessity of staffing additional projectionists to manage multiple 35mm screenings a day, we charge a premium ticket price for 35mm screenings of new releases like The Odyssey: $15 (members), $15 (students), $20 (nonmembers).
