The Hunger Games

To celebrate the release of Sunrise on the Reaping, Suzanne Collins’ newest novel set in the world of The Hunger Games, join us for a special screening of the 2012 film adaptation of the original novel.

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers in her younger sister’s place, and must rely upon her sharp instincts when she’s pitted against highly trained Tributes who have prepared their entire lives. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena, ones that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Presented with our Community Partner The Village Bookstore.

After the film, join us upstairs in Take 3, where The Village Bookstore will have Sunrise on the Reaping available for purchase. Stick around for some Hunger Games-themed fun as we celebrate the latest installment in the book series.

"Ross moves between action and human drama with nimble awareness of the weight of the issues coursing through the story of fascism, propaganda, and, yes, adolescence under the weight of the world."
Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post
