The Grown Ups

A group of friends with Down syndrome has attended the same school for 40 years. They have completed all their courses; many have been there longer than most teachers, and even their parents who used to keep them company, are no longer around. Now they will have to fight to get better jobs, earn a living like everyone else, learn to take care of themselves and at 50-years-old, manage to not be perceived as children. They will do whatever it takes to keep anyone from interfering with their adulthood dreams.

"Though Alberdi’s short, audience-friendly film offers plenty of sweetness and light observational humor, the sad anger of its message still burns through."
Guy Lodge, Variety

This film is part of the Maite Alberdi: In Focus series.
