In director Jorge R. Gutierrez and producer Guillermo del Toro’s vibrant and fantastical The Book of Life, three childhood friends from a small village in Mexico find themselves on different paths in life. Manolo (Diego Luna) is a reluctant bullfighter, torn between doing what his family expects and following his heart; Joaquin (Channing Tatum) is a soldier with a secret behind his heroics; and they’re both interested in the very independent Maria (Zoe Saldaña). Things get even more complicated when two gods from the underworld make a wager on which of them will marry her. Embarking on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds, Manolo must overcome his greatest fears and return to his true love during the biggest, most colorful celebration of the year: el Dia de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead.
