Loosely based on a Daphne du Maurier story of the same name, The Birds stars Tippi Hedren (Marnie) as Melanie Daniels, a wealthy San Francisco socialite who pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town. Things slowly take a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people in larger numbers and with increasing viciousness. With its terrifying effects and the decision to not explain the reason behind the bird attacks, The Birds remains one of Hitchcock’s most suspenseful and talked about films.

This film is screening to continue the great Hitchcock celebration that is Kent Jones’ new documentary, Hitchcock/Truffaut, which we will be playing for one week, beginning Feb. 12th.
