Iranian filmmaker Maryam Ebrahimi (JBFC Greenhouse 2016 Artist-in-Residence) has created a powerful portrait of Saeid Sadeghi, a war photographer during the Iran–Iraq War (1980-1988) whose heroic photos became an important tool of government propaganda. A firm supporter of the Iranian Revolution at the time, today he contemplates his shared responsibility for the deaths of countless young soldiers who were influenced by his photography to become martyrs themselves. Interspersed with archive footage, this stunning documentary is also an essay on ideology, propaganda and the power of the image.
