Swan Lake was Tchaikovsky’s first ballet score. Given its illustrious status today, you may be surprised to learn that the ballet was poorly received at its 1877 premiere. It wasn’t until its 1895 production by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov that Swan Lake ascended to great heights. This new production, enriched by additional choreography by Artist in Residence Liam Scarlett, remains faithful to that glorious version.
