Queen at Sea

Opens November 13

Juliette Binoche (The Taste of Things), Tom Courtenay (45 Years), Anna Calder-Marshal (Wuthering Heights; 1970), and Florence Hunt (Bridgerton) star in this unflinching family drama that won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance (Courtenay and Calder-Marshal) at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival.

Amanda (Binoche) and her stepfather Martin (Courtenay) struggle with a moral issue that divides them. Has Amanda’s mother Leslie (Calder-Marshal), who has dementia, lost the ability to make critical decisions in her own best interests? And, if so, who is responsible – a spouse, a child, an institution – for making such a determination? As Amanda and Martin are forced to make increasingly difficult choices, the repercussions spiral out of their control.

"More than holding its own alongside other prominent dramas about the ravages of age, Queen at Sea tackles its themes fearlessly, thanks to rigorous execution and a quartet of superb performances."
Jonathan Romney, Screen International
"This is a film that feels like its every frame, every nuance, every tension-filled line of dialogue has been pored over in the search for precision, and while it may look and feel like a fairly conventional tale of frayed lives and dysfunction, it’s anything but."
David Jenkins, Little White Lies
