Paul McCartney: Man on the Run

Q&A with director Morgan Neville

In April 1970, Paul McCartney released his first solo album, McCartney, alongside a shocking press release that announced the split of The Beatles. When asked what he’d do next, he said his only plan… was to grow up. Directed by Oscar-winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), Man on the Run captures Paul’s transformative decade in the wake of The Beatles’ break-up.

Through stunning archival footage, Linda McCartney’s exceptional photographs, and interviews with Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, Sean Ono Lennon, Mary and Stella McCartney, all the living Wings members, and of course Paul himself, the film examines this time through a uniquely vulnerable lens.

"Watching McCartney performing with such pleasure and power, Man on the Run reveals itself to be a story of a man finding his way back home."
Neil McCormick, Daily Telegraph (UK)
"At one point, [Paul] insists he’s not a workaholic but a 'playaholic', which might be the ultimate Macca-ism. In fact, that quip sums up his depiction in Man On The Run: goofy and a little corny, but always endearingly himself."
Jordan Bassett, NME
