In his first and only film as a director (taking over for Stanley Kubrick), Marlon Brando also stars as Rio, a man with a single purpose: revenge. Karl Malden plays his former partner in crime—he ran off with the gold and left Rio to be picked up by the police and thrown in jail. When Rio escapes, he learns that his nemesis is an influential sheriff, and he sets out to track him down. A complex, moody, and thought-provoking movie.
