Painter Julian Kreimer, a professor of studio art and criticism at Purchase College, takes us on a tour of film shorts made by artists. From experimenters in the surreal—such as Man Ray and Hans Richter—to those using the medium today, he explores everything from frame-by-frame construction to body and spatial politics.
