Melancholia is a psychological disaster film from director Lars von Trier. In this beautiful tale about the end of the world, Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård) are celebrating their marriage at a sumptuous party in the home of Justine’s sister Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law John (Kiefer Sutherland). Despite Claire’s best efforts, the wedding is a fiasco; as family tensions mount and relationships fray, a planet called Melancholia begins hurtling directly towards Earth.
The JBFC will offer Masked Matinees for the first screenings of the day on Sundays and Mondays through July 25. While in the building, staff and customers will be required to wear masks unless enjoying concessions while seated. Details HERE.
