A former outlaw named Link Jones (Gary Cooper) intervenes when the train he is on is robbed. He is knocked out and left behind along with a saloon singer (Julie London) and a con man (Arthur O’Connell). Link leads the group to his nearby former home, now the hideout for the bandits, who are led by his uncle (Lee J. Cobb). To save his new friends and himself, Jones must rejoin the old gang for one last holdup.
