Greta Gerwig (Mistress America, Frances Ha) stars as Maggie, a college administrator whose life plan is derailed when she falls in love with an adjunct professor (Ethan Hawke, Born to Be Blue) who happens to be married to a tenured superstar at Columbia (Julianne Moore, Still Alice, in a hysterical and moving performance). Featuring hilarious supporting roles from Bill Hader (IFC’s Documentary Now!, The Skeleton Twins), Maya Rudolph (The Way Way Back, Bridesmaids), and Travis Fimmel (History’s Vikings), and written and directed by Rebecca Miller (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, The Ballad of Jack and Rose), Maggie’s Plan is a sharp and funny New York City-set romantic comedy that is a hysterical and sweet breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale genre.
