After a painful breakup, heartbroken 23-year-old Jeanne (Esther Garrel, Call Me by Your Name) is forced to move back in with her university professor father, Gilles (Eric Caravaca, Chicken with Plums). Upon arriving she discovers that Gilles is living with optimistic, life-loving student Ariane (newcomer Louise Chevillotte), who is the same age as Jeanne. Both girls seek the favor of Gilles, as daughter or lover, while also forming their own friendship. Over time an unusual and complicated triangular relationship emerges. The prolific French filmmaker Philippe Garrel (Regular Lovers, The Shadow of Women) returns with another poetic and dreamy meditation on love, fidelity, and desire shot in gorgeous black and white by cinematographer Renato Berta (Au revoir les enfants).
