Long Strange Trip

Long Strange Trip is the first full-length documentary to piece together the epic history of rock band The Grateful Dead, one of the most influential musical groups of their generation. Award-winning filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev (Happy Valley, The Tillman Story) artfully assembles candid interviews with the band, road crew, family, and notable Deadheads to illuminate the fiercely independent vision, perpetual innovation, and uncompromising audience commitment that made the Bay Area band such a cultural phenomenon. Bar-Lev maintains a varied focus, highlighting the inner workings of the band and its followers while providing poignant insight into the psyche of late lead guitarist Jerry Garcia, whose disdain for authority clashed with his de facto leadership of the sprawling collective that kept the show on the road.

This film will include a 15-minute intermission.
