Join us for a day full of jazz, hosted by John Pizzarelli.

Filmed at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival and directed by world-renowned photographer Bert Stern, Jazz on a Summer’s Day features intimate performances from an all-star line-up of musical legends. With stunning footage of jazz greats including Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Anita O’Day, Chuck Berry, and Dinah Washington, the film closes with a beautiful midnight rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer” by Mahalia Jackson to usher in Sunday morning.

After the performance, the music continues upstairs at the Take 3 Wine Bar & Café courtesy of the Tyler Henderson Trio.

  • John Pizzarelli has been hailed by the Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.” The Toronto Star pegged him as “the genial genius of the guitar,” and the Seattle Times saluted him as “a rare entertainer of the old school.” He has recorded over 20 solo albums and has appeared on more than 40 albums by other recording artists, including Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Rosemary Clooney, and his father, jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli.
  • Jessica Molaskey is an American professional actress and singer. Jessica most recently appeared in the Off Broadway production of The Connector at the MCC Theater Company for which she was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award and Outer Critics Circle Award.
  • The John Pizzarelli Trio features John Pizzarelli on guitar and vocals, Mike Karn on bass, and Isaiah J. Thompson on piano.
