Academy award-winning director Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) returns with this deep dive into the life of acclaimed and controversial French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard (Louis Garrel). The film begins with the end of Godard’s marriage to Anna Karina and traces his new relationship with actress and activist Anne Wiazemsky (Stacy Martin). A year before the May ’68 protests, Godard embarks on a new film, La Chinoise, with Wiazemsky as his partner and muse. However, the film’s tepid reception unleashes a profound self-examination in Godard, sparking a crisis of artistic integrity. As the country undergoes enormous cultural change, Godard and Wiazemsky find themselves, their marriage, and their art threatened by the resulting turmoil.
