Field of Dreams

Screening followed by a Q&A with author Noah Gittell

In this tribute to dreamers, Kevin Costner stars as an Iowa farmer who constructs a baseball diamond in his fields after hearing the inspirational message, “If you build it, he will come.”

Noah’s new book Baseball: The Movie is the first definitive history of this film genre that was born in 1915 and remains artistically and culturally vital more than a century later. It sheds light on well-known classics and overlooked gems, exploring how baseball cinema creates a stage upon which the American ideal is born, performed, and repeatedly redefined. After the screening, copies of Baseball: The Movie will be available for sale courtesy of the Village Bookstore.
