In the 1960s, jazz legends Dexter Gordon and Ben Webster traveled to Copenhagen for a life-changing experience that influenced their music and changed the landscape of the local jazz scene. Over the next several years, the two saxophonists called Copenhagen their home. Cool Cats retraces Gordon and Webster’s journey through the memories of their friends, loved ones, fans, and their own personal archives.

The performance will be followed by a reception in the Jane Peck Gallery.

Cool Cats will be followed by a live musical performance from the Julian Lee Quartet, led by saxophonist Julian Lee, the 2017 recipient of the Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award from Jazz At Lincoln Center. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Lee plays Alto, Tenor, and Soprano saxophones, clarinet and flute. Along with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, he has performed with the Christian McBride Big Band, Mingus Big Band, and the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band.
