Director Raoul Walsh reworks his 1941 crime drama High Sierra (Humphrey Bogart’s breakthrough) in Colorado Territory, recasting it with Joel McCrea as an outlaw just released from prison who returns to a life of crime for one last heist. Virginia Mayo (in place of Ida Lupino) is the bad girl with a good heart who genuinely cares for him. With action, drama, great locations, romance, train robberies, betrayals, and a first-class score, Colorado Territory is a stirring example of the Western at its best.
