Roghieh, a woman from rural Iran, has built up her own bazaar where several hundred women come every day to sell food and handicrafts. Although the market offers a crucial service for their survival, local authorities decide to tear down the bazaar and build a shopping mall instead. But Roghieh won’t give up without a fight. Iranian filmmaker Mina Keshavarz’s insightful, beautifully artful documentary uses the story of the bazaar to offer a unique look at the daily lives of women struggling to earn a living in the Iranian countryside without legal protection or support.
