The wacky, wise, and wonderful world of Charlie Kaufman (this time codirecting with Duke Johnson) is back in animated form, as original and creative as ever, and, as always, brilliant and funny. Anomalisa is the story of Michael Stone, a renowned customer service expert to whom the world appears dreary and lifeless—everyone around him looks the same and shares the same voice. That is, until he meets a young woman named Lisa whose voice is refreshingly different and real. It’s been seven years since Charlie Kaufman has treated us to a new film, but the creator of Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Being John Malkovich is back with another major piece.
