American Gigolo

A high-living prostitute with an eye for the finer things in life, Julian Kay (Richard Gere, in the role that made him a household name) has it all: the Mercedes, the Armani suits, access to Beverly Hills’ swankiest establishments, and a stable of rich, older female clients. But everything comes crashing down after he does a favor for his former pimp (Bill Duke, Car Wash) and his trick turns up dead. Julian doesn’t have a solid alibi and his denials are unconvincing to Detective Sunday (Hector Elizondo, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three). The one person who can help him is the woman he’s having an affair with—off the clock—a frustrated politician’s wife (Lauren Hutton, Viva Knievel!).

This film is part of the Don’t Look Away: The Films of Paul Schrader series.
