You can now purchase a digital screening of The Booksellers for only $9.99, after which you’ll have 3 days to watch the film in a “virtual screening room” created just for patrons of the JBFC. Like many cinematic engagements, this film will be available for screening purchases for one week to start; if demand is sufficient, the title will be “held over” for additional weeks as needed.
With each screening of The Booksellers purchased during this period you’ll provide much-needed support to both the JBFC and Greenwich Entertainment—who will evenly split the revenue—as we navigate these uncharted waters
A note from Senior Programmer Andrew Jupin: I saw this film almost two months ago and it’s one that feels incredibly special to me now more than ever. I think in the weeks since I watched it for the first time its importance has shifted quite a bit. The Booksellers combines two of my favorite kinds of documentaries: ones with fascinating, yet kooky subjects and ones that present a great New York story. This doc weaves both together in a special way that makes me yearn for a place I know a lot of us are missing these days: New York City. I know I’m missing it, and I haven’t left Manhattan in over a month! The film is a peek into not only the fascinating world of rare book sellers, but the lives of some incredibly unique New Yorkers. It’s a doc that will spend a little over an hour and a half reminding you of what made this city so great and why it continues, and will continue to be great: the people.
