Small Town, Big Dreams

Dec. 11–Mar. 12, 2025

From the zany cast of Waiting For Guffman’s “Red, White, and Blaine,” to the titular gang of “vitelloni” (Italian slang for “slackers”) in Federico Fellini’s masterpiece of the same name—the history of cinema is rich with small towns and starry-eyed dreamers, yearning for a brighter tomorrow.

Also featuring Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show and Peter Yates’ Breaking Away—the Jacob Burns Film Center is proud to present Small Towns, Big Dreams: a four-film series highlighting some of the greatest small-town dreamers ever to grace the silver screen.
