Since the 1940s, the rise of television news has dramatically reshaped the ways in which Americans from all walks of life receive and digest their news. While in some ways television news has served as an undeniable force for good, it has also raised daunting ethical questions about the line between journalism and entertainment. Beginning in April, the Jacob Burns Film Center is proud to present On the News—a series of three classic films which grapple with those very questions and, decades later, feel as relevant as ever.
